CIPD Flying Success for Paula
Paula Bittles, Executive Assistant - Corporate Services, George Best Belfast City Airport completed the CIPD Foundation Certificate in HR Practice with DMS Ireland gaining Associate Membership of CIPD. Paula explains how the qualification helped her to provide better support to her HR/Corporate Services Manager, enhanced her own personal development and confidence and assisted with her day-to-day duties.

Brief Description of what the organisation does: George Best Belfast City Airport is a regional airport situated within the ‘heart of the city’ and connects Northern Ireland to a number of domestic locations. Brief Description of your role within the organisation: Based within the Corporate Services Team, the purpose of my job role is to provide administrative support to the team as well as co-ordinating a number of Corporate Responsibility initiatives in place at the airport. This includes the management of our Community Fund applications and also co-ordination of our educational initiatives. I am also a member of our CR committee and co-ordinate the Ignite Young Leaders programme.
Why did you choose to embark on the CIPD Qualification with DMS Ireland? I wanted to embark on completion of the Foundation certificate in HR practice to not only assist me in my current job role by developing my HR knowledge in a broad spectrum of HR areas but also for my own personal development.
How did the CIPD Qualification help you in your role the workplace? Completing this qualification has helped me to better support the HR & CR Manager, I have also had the opportunity to carry out an interview process following completion of my qualification. It has also enhanced my own personal development and confidence.
How has your organisation benefited from you completing the CIPD Qualification? My organisation has benefited through the additional support I am able to offer in my current role particularly in regard to developing myself as an effective HR practitioner. It has also helped me to integrate my newly developed skills into the Corporate Services team. All of the modules completed through this qualification have been very important to assisting me with my day to day duties.
How would you describe your experience working with DMS? I had a fantastic experience working with DMS, Gillian who delivered the course in particular was wonderful to work with, she has a wealth of knowledge and delivered the programme in a highly informative and engaging manner. I would have no hesitation in recommending DMS to other organisations.
