The DMS Ireland Graduation Ball 2018
The DMS Ireland Graduation Ball took place on Friday 14th September 2018 at the Stormont Hotel, Belfast, at which over Forty Human Resource and Learning & Development Professionals were recognised for their successful completion of Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) Professional Qualifications with Northern Ireland centre, DMS Ireland.
Candidates travelled from all over the UK and Ireland to be presented with their certificates and recognising their success, Special Guest, Alan Price, CIPD Elected Director and Charity Trustee and Chief Operations Officer at Peninsula Group addressed the audience:
“Be critical in your thinking, always reach for the next goal, strive to be the best that you can be and always think about how you can and do add value. These awards are a clear mark of recognition of what you have achieved and as you are now more knowledgeable, it is expected that you will be taking what you have studied to improve processes, systems and cost base.”
Alan continued, “By using your qualification, skill, experience and expertise, you add value to make things even better. And if you apply this to work, you should see nothing but continued future success.”
Darren Chadwick, Chief Commercial Officer at CIPD HR-Inform Ireland, presented certificates for Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced Levels. Forty Five Certificates were presented on the night with over 200 candidates completing a CIPD Award, Certificate or Diploma in the past two years.
The surprise element of the evening was the presentation of Special Awards by the 2018 Sponsors. Winners in each of the categories were announced as follows:
Foundation Level Qualifications Special Award
Winner: Susan McAllister, Capita HR Solutions, Belfast
Susan was presented with her award by Stephen Patton, Human Resources and Corporate Responsibility Manager at George Best Belfast City Airport, Sponsors of the Award. Susan completed the CIPD Foundation Certificate in HR Practice with DMS.
Intermediate Level Qualifications Special Award (2 winners)
Winner of the Human Resources Award at Intermediate Level: Aoife McDonnell, National Shared Services Office, Dublin
Winner of the Learning & Development Award at Intermediate Level: Lucy Cornwall, Domino’s Pizza, Milton Keynes
Aoife and Lucy were presented with their awards by Darren Chadwick, Chief Commercial Officer of CIPD HR-Inform Ireland, Sponsor of the Awards at Intermediate Level. Aoife completed the Intermediate Diploma in Human Resource Management and Lucy completed the Intermediate Diploma in Learning & Development.
Advanced Level Qualifications Special Award
Winner: Louise Smyth, National Museums Northern Ireland
Louise was presented with her award by Moira Grassick, Associate Director at Graphite HRM, Sponsor of the Award. Louise completed the CIPD Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Development with DMS.
Advanced Level Employment Law Special Award
Winner: Chloe Green, Peninsula Group (now at Croner)
Chloe was presented with her award by Moira Grassick, Associate Director at Graphite HRM, Sponsor of the Award. Chloe completed the CIPD Advanced Employment Law Module to give accreditation for an Award.
Darren Chadwick, Chief Commercial Officer at CIPD HR-Inform Ireland, congratulated the winners and provided them with a one-year subscription to their services, worth over £675 at the CIPD membership rate.

I would like to personally congratulate all of the graduates and special award winners and wish them every success for the future. It was an extra special evening for Belfast City Council’s Business Improvement Consultant, Angela McHenry, winner of the DMS Ireland Candidate of the Year 2018, the final Special Award presented on the night. Angela completed the CIPD Advanced Level 7 Diploma in Human Resource Management with DMS Ireland and was presented with her Special Achievement Award by Colin Maxwell from nijobfinder, Media Partner for the Graduation. "I am delighted to have been awarded DMS Candidate of the Year 2018. Winning this award was such a surprise – it is great recognition for my study effort and work commitment in completing my CIPD Advanced Diploma in HRM and encouragement for further personal development."
Lynn Carson, Managing Director of DMS Ireland expressed the need for candidates to continue to develop their professional competence to navigate the changing world of work. Lynn added the final comment of the evening: “Don’t stop here – continue with your CIPD Qualification journey and HR/L&D career path."
