Melissa Kempton Gains Foundation Level Certificate in HR

Melissa Kempton, HR Assistant at Uform t/a Oakwood Door Design Limited, completed the CIPD Foundation Certificate in HR Practice, with DMS Ireland and shares an insight into her role for the last 2 years, why she decided to embark on the CIPD qualification and how it has helped her in her role in Human Resources.

Brief Description of what the organisation does: 

Uform is a Distributor and Manufacturer of kitchen doors and components, selling to the trade throughout the UK and Ireland.

Brief Description of your role within the organisation:

My responsibilities within the organisation are to provide comprehensive and confidential administrative support for all aspects of the HR function, in areas such as recruitment, absence management, disciplinary and other general administrative tasks.  I also undertake HR Advisory duties.  Currently one of our company strategic goals is to deliver a People Strategy and my role supports the implementation of this through our company culture and values.

Why did you choose to embark on the CIPD Qualification with DMS Ireland?

I wanted to obtain qualifications that would help progress my career within HR.  I had heard about CIPD through my Line Manager and she then recommended DMS Ireland to me.  She had also completed her CIPD qualifications through DMS and they came highly recommended!

How did the CIPD Qualification help you in your role in the workplace?

I feel obtaining my CIPD Qualification has increased my confidence levels in dealing with employee HR queries, and across the board, increased my knowledge and skills in Human Resources.

How has your organisation benefited from you completing the CIPD Qualification?

I feel I have been able to advise employees better without having to verify with the HR Manager prior to providing the advice.

How would you describe your experience working with DMS?

The support I received during my course was fantastic and I can not thank Gillian and Lynn enough for their encouragement throughout the process.
